“Let’er Buck” by Sharon K. Hunt The Life She LovesBy Bernard Price Chargin’ out the chute The bronc arena bound, Its rider loudly hollers As they go round and round. Usin’ all her know-how The cowgirl keeps her seat, When she hears the buzzer Knows her ride is now complete. The pick-up men assist She dismounts and in the clear, Walks away while wavin’ To the crowd who loudly cheer. Very happy with the ride And the prize she’s won today, After she collects her money Will soon be on her way. Another rodeo is callin’ It’s really all she knows, With her saddle in he truck To the next one off she goes. This life she chose ain’t easy From state to state she’ll roam, Her family back in Texas Wishin’ she would come on home. But somethin’ keeps her goin’ The popularity and fame, Until it’s time to quit And she gives up this game. When her last ride is over And the life she loves is through, Memories help her to endure She now has quite a few. Welcomed after years away A hometown hero still, Her record never matched And boots so hard to fill. |
